Our Philosophy

Like every parent who wants the best for their children, at Hills Daycare, we strive to offer a high standard and continuity of education and care in a secure and welcoming environment.

Families have provided their children with valuable knowledge and care since birth. Our service acknowledges the importance of forming partnerships with families and the need to communicate with them. Our relationships with families are inclusive; we believe the diversity within them is what makes our centre a vibrant place. We strongly believe that the relationships children have with their families and the wider community are valuable and, therefore, consider them to be the foundation of our curriculum to extend each child’s learning.

We wholeheartedly embrace children's connections with the natural world and firmly advocate for their opportunity to truly appreciate and comprehend our impact on the environment. With our multiple outdoor areas filled with different natural textures and opportunities, we confidently take our learning outside, fueling children's innate wonder and curiosity about the outdoor world.

We celebrate individuality at our service and recognize that each child has unique abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds. We value the Indigenous culture and history of the land we are situated on and strive to create sustainable practices connected to the land.

We believe in the importance of enhancing a child’s well-being by promoting good health behaviours and creating security in our relationships and environment that allow children to extend their learning. We offer an atmosphere where children can expand their confidence and overall agency to support their health and well-being whilst fostering their sense of belonging, being, and becoming under the Early Years Learning Framework.

By fostering a positive approach to each child's identity, self-esteem, resilience, and responsibility, we believe they can grow their separate identities and abilities and still contribute constructively to meaning-making.

At our centre, we enthusiastically adopt the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, which places a strong emphasis on child-centred learning. This approach is driven by the unique interests and creativity of the children. Our goal is to cultivate an environment where the children's innovative ideas and artistic expressions serve as the primary guides for their learning experiences, often through engaging in hands-on exploratory experiences.

We will engage in ongoing practices that reflect and evaluate our procedures to drive continuous improvement and ensure each child can maximise their learning opportunities.  As a community, we encourage growth and value development, which allows us to enhance our ability to support, nurture and care for the most crucial focus of our service: the children.
